The Departed

To lose oneself is akin to selling one's soul to the devil. Most literature both modern and old, dealt with this topic and the reason behind it is mainly for fleeting selfish wants and indulgences. The one moment in time where we become weak and succumb to unnecessary wants, is the time we lose our goodness, our values and principal. That is the moment we will sign on the dotted line the contract with the horned one.

From that moment on, we are doomed. Condemned. Not by God or anyone, not even the Devil but by ourselves. We betrayed ourselves. We lose ourselves in the endless chasm of discontentment and disappointment.

That's what makes us human isn't it. For a moment of folly, we sell ourselves, betray the trusts of our friends and families... Not that we do not know the 'price' or the 'consequences' when signing on the dotted lines.... but it's the urge of wanting something so badly that we are willing to pay any 'price' or deliberately choose to ignore any dire consequences... just for a moment of self indulgence and pleasures, even if it's short-lived.
Yes, it's 'ourselves' that dictate our path. Decision to befriend the horned one are common amongst us humans. Probably a handful can remain strong.
But on reflection, would you still choose a life of 'experiences' or a life of 'stillness' peace? Afterall, we are human.......
